Matthew Finkelman
Research/Areas of Interest
I am devoted to making meaningful contributions to dental and oral health research. I have provided biostatistical support to projects in periodontology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and public health, among other areas, culminating in many journal articles and conference abstracts. I have also been active in research on the abuse and misuse of opioids, including being the Principal Investigator of an R03 grant for research on screening for opioid misuse. Finally, I have been first author and co-author of numerous statistical papers.

Biography
Dr. Matthew D. Finkelman is an associate professor and Director of the Division of Biostatistics and Experimental Design at TUSDM. He has a Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford University and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health prior to joining Tufts. Dr. Finkelman's research interests include special care in dentistry, opioid misuse, psychometrics, and the design of computer-based questionnaires. He has authored or co-authored over 150 abstracts presented at national and international conferences, as well as over 150 papers published in peer-reviewed journals such as Statistics in Medicine, Psychometrika, the Journal of the American Dental Association, and the New England Journal of Medicine. He was a keynote speaker at the inaugural conference of the International Association of Computerized Adaptive Testing and was inducted into the Robert R. Andrews Research Honor Society in 2012.
