Biography
Dr. Gina M. Terenzi is aProfessor in the Department of Public Health and Community Service at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine. Her current role is to serve as the Assistant Dean for Post Graduate Clinical Affairs. She is the Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program and the Associate Director of the General Practice Residency in Dentistry . She works in association with the Division for Special Care within the Department of Public Health as a staff dentist, treating patients with special needs both in the field and in the operating room.
As a function of her educational and clinical roles at Tufts, she is an Active Staff Member at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and Franciscan Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Brighton.
Dr. Terenzi is currently involved in Health Resources and Services Administration federal grant funded initiatives as the Principle Investigator for one 5 years grant cycle. The grant focuses on a Faculty Loan Repayment Program to recruit and retain talented well trained faculty to provide patient care and education to post graduate primary care dental programs. The main goal of the grant is to increase access to care for patients at risk, including patients with special needs as well as provide an increase in dental workforce for improving access to oral healthcare.
Dr. Terenzi received both her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Boston University. She received a post graduate Certificate in General Practice Residency in Dentistry at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut as well as a second year chief Certificate in General Practice Residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Prior to her arrival at Tufts Dental School, Gina practiced in Hartford, CT at the Hospital Dental Associates for Hartford Hospital where she was a staff member. During this time she taught at the St. Francis General Practice Residency Program as attending faculty and staff at the hospital. Affiliate staff memberships included Connecticut Children's Hospital in Hartford.
Publications include a Chapter for Management of Fear and Anxiety for the Special Needs Patient in 'Fear and Anxiety Management', Blackwell 2010. Dr. Terenzi has also been the mentor for her Advanced General Dentistry Residents for presentations in clinical research for the TUSDM Bates Andrews Research day as well as presentations at annual Special Care in Dentistry conferences.
Dr. Terenzi is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, The Special Care Organization.. She serves on multiple committees at Tufts Dental School as well as in the Community. She is a Board Member on the Community Dental Organizations of Maine.
