Biography
Dr. Yo-wei Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He serves as Course Director for Digital Dentistry, Implant Dentistry, and Biomaterials, with a strong emphasis on integrating contemporary digital technologies and evidence-based principles into prosthodontic education.
Dr. Chen received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan in 2011 and subsequently completed postgraduate residency training at Taipei Medical University Hospital. He also practiced in Taiwan before relocating to the United States. He completed his Advanced Education in Prosthodontics and Master of Science degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2018. He later earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnologies from the University of Siena in Italy. Dr. Chen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is also an active member of the International Team for Implantology and the Academy of Osseointegration and serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed dental journals.
His clinical interests include fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant dentistry, minimally invasive restorative dentistry, esthetic dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation. His research focuses on digital dentistry, implant dentistry, dental materials, and applications of artificial intelligence in dentistry.
