My research interest is in endodontic disinfection and the development of a photochemotherapeutic system for eradicating residual bacteria in the dental root canal system.

Biography

Dr. Tom Pagonis earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery and Master of Science degrees from the University of Minnesota. After an additional year as a resident in Advanced General Dentistry he spent three years in general dental practice before completing his postgraduate training in endodontics at Columbia University. After practicing endodontics in the Washington D.C. area, he moved to New England and co- founded the multi-office Newport Endodontics, P.C. before transitioning into an academic career. He maintained a faculty appointment at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor and is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and journal reviewer for the International Dental Journal, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery and Lasers and Surgery in Medicine. He enjoys membership in various dental societies and is the Immediate President of the Massachusetts Association of Endodontists. Dr. Pagonis also has an interest in digital media and is the Founder and 'Chief Endodontics Officer' of RootRadar, a digital media and dental e-Commerce company.
