Periodontics. Dr. Mandell continues to have interests in the Microbiology of Periodontal Disease, the influences of systemic diseases on the Periodontium, Implantology and Periodontal Regeneration.

Biography
Prior to joining the faculty at TUSDM, Dr. Mandell was previously in full time academic positions at the Medical College of Virginia, Emory University and Forsyth Research for a period from 1980-1991. After leaving full time academics to pursue a private practice, Dr. Mandell also remained active in academia on a part-time basis as a periodontal consultant to the Tufts General Practice residency since January 1999. Dr. Mandell joined the periodontal department in March of 2017 teaching on a half-time appointment. Dr. Mandell continues to practice in his private practice two days per week.
