Biography
Originally from Upstate NY, Dr Newman practiced as a dental hygienist for over a decade before attending Tufts University School of Dental Medicine graduating in 2008. While at Tufts she was the class representative for the Ethics and Professionalism committee, received the Pauline Fuller Persons Scholarship in 2007, and The Altshuler Family Prize for ethics in 2008.
When not at Tufts, Dr Newman is in private practice in Southern NH, and lives with her husband and two Shetland Sheepdogs in Atkinson, NH.
Dr Newman is a member of the Dental Identification Team for New Hampshire, a volunteer group of dental professionals that assist medical examiners with the identification of unidentified deceased individuals through forensic dental analysis.
In 2024, she completed the Forensic Dentistry Program through McGill University and is working toward board certification in the American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO). She is a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the American Dental Association. Dr Newman is a member of the New Hampshire Dental Society and is on the board of the NHDS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the New Hampshire Dental Society.
In May of 2022 Dr Newman received the New Hampshire Dental Societies President's Award
In July of 2025, Melissa received her Mastership award through the Academy of General Dentistry.
