Biography

Alberto Malacarne is Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Department of Diagnostic Sciences, Division of Orofacial Pain. He has a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Universita' degli Studi di Genova (Italy) and a fellowship in Orofacial Pain from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain and he is a diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain.
His clinical activity is completely devoted to the assessment and management of patients with face, head, and neck pain, treating conditions such as temporomandibular disorders, trigeminal neuropathic pain, and primary headache disorders. He is involved on a daily basis in the clinical training of residents of the Orofacial Pain certificate program at Tufts University. He is the director of the course "Reviews of Orofacial Pain" for Postgraduate Dental Students and he is the co-organizer of the annual "Face Pain and Headache Symposium" at Tufts University. His major research and clinical interests are non-odontogenic tooth pain and the relation between headaches and facial pain. He acts as a research mentor for undergraduate dental students interested in Orofacial Pain. His career mission is to reduce the gap between dentistry and medicine through education and interprofessional collaboration.
In his free time, he likes enjoying time with his friends, playing the drums and the piano, and traveling around the world with his wife to discover new cultures and food.
