If a career in dentistry is in your future, apply to TUSDM’s Eight-Year Early Assurance Program (EAP), proudly offered by Tufts University and TUSDM. If you’re dedicated to pursuing both a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, gain peace of mind by applying to the EAP during the spring of your sophomore year.

*Conditional acceptance is granted after an interview at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Final acceptance is granted after students complete four years of undergraduate study and maintain academic and non-academic standards as required by the Dental School. 

Application requirements

Courses/academic requirements due by the end of sophomore year

  • Two semesters of biology with lab, two semesters of general chemistry with lab, one semester of organic chemistry with lab
  • AP credits can NOT be used for any of the course requirements
  • All prerequisite courses must be graded B or higher
  • It is strongly encouraged that ALL pre-dental course requirements be completed at Tufts. Special approval must be given for prerequisite courses completed at another institution
  • Cumulative Science GPA >=3.6
  • Cumulative Total GPA >=3.6

Non-academic requirements due by the end of sophomore year

  • Minimum of 75 dental shadowing hours, 40 hours must be with a general dentist
  • Minimum of 75 community service/volunteering hours
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation [one letter must come from a faculty member in the sciences (BCP)]
  • Detailed resume including dental related experience, community service, volunteering, employment, research, academic enrichment, scholarships, honors/awards
