Become a Patient
To make an appointment in our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Teaching Clinic, please call 617-636-6516. All new patients will receive an appointment for an initial consultation, and X-rays may be needed.
Insurance
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Teaching Clinic participates with most major dental insurance plans, and self-pay options are available. We will verify your insurance when you call for your first appointment. Once we complete an initial consultation, we will provide estimates of costs and review insurance and payment options with you prior to starting treatment. Patients with issues that are covered under a medical insurance plan will be seen in our Faculty Practice.
Our Oral and Maxillofacial Faculty Practice is staffed by our highly experienced Tufts Dental faculty who provide a premium level of oral surgery and health care services directly for patients. Nestled within the renowned Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in downtown Boston, patients receive exceptional oral surgical care with the benefits of leading-edge technologies and premium customer service. Our faculty are on staff at Tufts Medical Center, and we collaborate with your primary dentist or physician to help you get back to feeling better.
A referral from a physician or dentist is required.
Our Services
- Outpatient general anesthesia and IV sedation
- Dentoalveolar procedures, including atraumatic extractions, removal of impacted teeth, exposure of impacted teeth, pre-prosthetic surgery
- Implant surgery covering all levels of complexity
- Bone grafting and reconstruction of bony defects
- Facial cosmetic surgery, including blepharoplasty, dermal fillers, Botox, chemical peels and neuromodulators
- Evaluation and treatment of pathologic lesions of the jaw and the oral cavity
- Maxillofacial reconstructive and orthognathic surgery
- Surgery for ultimate management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
- Primary cleft lip and palate repair
- Traumatic injuries to the teeth and jaws
- TMJ surgery including minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy and arthrocentesis (Surgical Interventions only. For TMJ evaluations contact the Craniofacial Pain Center.)

Yes, referrals are required for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics.

If you have another insurance not listed above, you can "self-pay." Upon completion of each dental procedure, and after you have made payment in full, we will provide you a claim form which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
For self-pay patients, we do not offer payment plan options. However, patients may apply for financing through Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub), which offers a range of loan rates.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer free care or "sliding-scale" pricing. As a teaching facility, we are committed to offering dental care at lower cost than a typical private practice.
