As a postdoctoral teaching clinic, residents pursuing advanced dental degrees work with renowned endodontists to provide outstanding care.

- Apicoectomy (removal of tooth root)
- Pulpotomy/Pulpectomy (root canal alternative for baby teeth)
What to Expect for New Patients
Patients Who Already Have a Referral
If you are a patient with a referral, please request an appointment by calling 617-636-6889. You will need your referring dentist's name and phone number, as well as the tooth number that requires treatment. Please tell us if you are seeking immediate treatment or a consultation.
Don’t Have a Referral Yet?
If you have been to a general dentist and you have been told you need a root canal, please have your dentist complete a referral form and bring it to your appointment. Don’t be afraid to ask your dentist about referring to our Endodontic Clinic! Specialists have advanced expertise and training in a specific kind of treatment. They don’t replace your regular dentist, but act as a member of your care team. Once your treatment with us is done, you will go back to your referring dentist to complete your restorative care.
If you don’t have a general dentist, consider becoming a patient at our Comprehensive Care Clinic that sees adults for routine care, like check-ups, cleaning, and fillings. We will diagnose your needs and come up with a treatment plan, all for approximately a third of the cost of a private practice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Endodontists are dentists who specialize in the treatment of the inside of a tooth. We have extra training and expertise in how to treat problems in the root or nerve of the tooth like infections or damage. We use specialized tools and techniques that can save natural teeth that might otherwise be lost.
Referrals are required—and useful—for a few key reasons. Referrals are a way for your regular dentist to direct you to a specialist, who has advanced expertise in a specific area of dentistry. It’s important to note that no single provider can do everything, and that going to a specialist for a specific treatment is often a way for you to get the best care possible.
Referrals are also helpful for passing along important medical information to a specialist about a patient’s oral health and treatment needs.
In addition, many insurers require referrals as part of their terms of service.
We accept the following insurances:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield MA
- Cigna
- Delta Dental
- MassHealth
If you have another insurance not listed above, you can "self pay." Upon completion of each dental procedure, and after you have made payment in full, we will provide you a claim form which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
For self-pay patients, we do not offer payment plan options. However, patients may apply for financing through Happen Bank (formerly known as LendingClub), which offers a range of loan rates.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer free care or "sliding-scale" pricing. As a teaching facility, we are committed to offering dental care at lower cost than a typical private practice.
