Global Leader in Oral Health Care

TUSDM is part of a select network of dental institutions qualified to collaborate with manufacturers and industry partners on research and product evaluation initiatives. Our designation as an ADA qualified testing site reflects our leadership as global leaders in oral healthcare and our longstanding commitment to advancing oral health through innovation, scientific inquiry, and evidence-based dentistry.

ADA Qualification Explained

The ADA Qualified Testing Site Program identifies academic and clinical institutions that can conduct quality product testing. Institutions that are chosen are:

  • Fully independent
  • Follow necessary protocols
  • Produce accurate, valid, and reliable data
  • Conduct research in support of ADA Seal applications

Under the program, each research project is governed through a separate agreement between participating organization and sponsor.

The TUSDM Advantage

Through its large patient population, experienced faculty, advanced clinical infrastructure, and robust research programs, TUSDM is well positioned to conduct studies that advance the science and practice of dentistry.

As one of the nation’s largest dental schools, located in the heart of Boston, TUSDM conducts both clinical and laboratory research through its Dental Research Administration (DRA).

With access to affiliated phlebotomists, research nurses, and physicians through Tufts Medical Center, TUSDM supports high-quality clinical and laboratory studies across a diverse patient population.

All research is conducted in full compliance with FDA, IRB, HIPAA, and Good Clinical/Laboratory Practice requirements. TUSDM’s Clinical Research Center has 7 fully equipped dental bays, radiograph machines, a private room for consenting, and a drug storage area with temperature monitoring. The Dr. J. Murray Gavel Center for Restorative Dental Research, also located at TUSDM, provides a wide variety of equipment for in-vitro research.
