Dr. Melissa Ing is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Comprehensive Care. She is Course Director for Introduction to Clinical Dental Operative Materials Workshops. She also leads and lectures the Cariology Courses and Workshops, Caries Detection and Removal Workshops; and Standardized Case Notes Course and Workshops for IDP II/III as well as Ergonomics. Dr. Ing is interested in public health and educational research topics and is principal investigator in multiple research projects while enjoying team collaboration with students and faculty both at Tufts and with other dental institutions. Dr. Ing has a keen interest in the areas of risk management, infection control, and ergonomics. Her book chapter in “ Evidenced-based Oral Surgery for the General Dentist” was released February 2019. She is a passionate advocate for STEM education and devotes her summers encouraging middle grade school children to consider the health sciences as future career choices. She is the recipient of the national ADEA/Colgate Palmolive Excellence In Teaching Award, the University of Connecticut Kaiser-Permanente Clinical Teaching Excellence Awards, and Tufts University Teaching with Technology Award nomination. She is a member of CDCA, CODE, ADEA, AWiS, and OSAP.
