Delta Dental of Rhode Island is providing a significant gift to establish a new scholarship benefiting Tufts University School of Dental Medicine students. With a focus on improving access to oral health care and supporting underrepresented students, this scholarship will enable a diverse group of qualified students with financial need to receive the excellent clinical training and research-focused education for which TUSDM is known.

“We are grateful for this scholarship support from Delta Dental of Rhode Island,” said Nadeem Karimbux, dean of TUSDM. “This investment in our students will contribute to supporting a diverse dental workforce and we are proud to be part of that effort.”

Delta Dental of Rhode Island (DDRI) has created The Delta Dental of Rhode Island Scholarship to be awarded to students from Rhode Island.  Recognizing the increased need for oral surgeons in their service area, DDRI encourages TUSDM students who have expressed an interest in pursuing advanced studies in oral and maxillofacial surgery to apply for the scholarship.

“Expanding access to oral healthcare is a key priority for Delta Dental of Rhode Island,” said Joseph R. Perroni, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Rhode Island. “We are pleased to provide this funding and to partner with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in fostering the development of oral surgeons and increasing capacity in our state.”

As a global leader in oral health, TUSDM extends its sincere gratitude to Delta Dental of Rhode Island for their commitment to ensuring that talented current and future dental students have the opportunity to receive the education and training necessary to become highly qualified practitioners.
