Are you interested in being a research participant? TUSDM is currently recruiting for the following studies:
Wisdom Tooth & Dental Dressing Research Study
We are seeking volunteers for a study testing the use of a dental dressing material in reducing post-surgical complications following the removal of wisdom teeth. Participants must be between 18 and 30 years old, require the surgical removal of your top two or bottom two wisdom teeth and be able to physically tolerate conventional surgical procedures. You may not participate in this study if you have an allergy to seafood, you have an allergy to drugs used in routine oral surgery, or if you are currently pregnant. Compensation for patients completing the study is a total of $30 in gift cards. For more information, please contact Paula O’Brien [email@example.com (617) 636-2484] or Dr. Ghassan Darwish [firstname.lastname@example.org (617) 636-0806]. All study appointments will take place in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic at TUSDM.
Wisdom Tooth Removal & Pain Study
We are seeking volunteers for a study testing a pain reduction patch for wisdom teeth removal. We would like to see if application of the patches on your cheeks reduces pain after teeth are extracted. Participants must be 18-30 years old, medically healthy, able to attend three study visits, and planning to have all four wisdom teeth extracted (wisdom teeth must be fully or partially impacted). Participants who qualify and complete the study will receive up to $125 in gift cards for their participation. For more information, please contact Dr. William Gilmore (William.Gilmore@tufts.edu) or Cassandra O’Connell (Cassandra.Oconnell@tufts.edu; 617-636-0490)
Dental Implant Study
This study will evaluate the effect of a locally delivered antibiotic around diseased dental implants. We are looking for volunteers who are at least 21 years old, with overall good medical and dental health, who have at least one dental implant diagnosed with per-implantitis. The study consists of a total of five visits over a six-month period. Volunteers will receive compensation for their time.
Dry Mouth Study
Looking for patients with dry mouth who are 18 years or older and have incipient lesions (newly formed cavities). Participation takes place over six weeks and involves two visits. We will collect and analyze saliva samples, conduct a thorough oral examination and complete ICDAS charting (a cavity detection system). Compensation is $25 at the first visit and $75 at the last visit, totaling $100.
