The Clinic Business Office for Tufts Dental School patient care billing is available by calling (617) 636-6986. Our representatives are available to answer your account, payment and insurance questions Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM- 4:30 PM. For patients seen in our Specialty Clinics (Postdoctoral), we have Clinic Business Office representatives on the 11th and 12th floors. Our main Business Office is located offsite.

How much cheaper is Tufts than a private dentist?
Our fees are generally 25-50 percent less than many private practices in the area, depending on the treatment. We also offer payment plans. For more information, click here.
What insurance does Tufts Dental School accept?
The Clinic Business Office accepts Delta Dental, Blue cross/Blue shield (MA and RI), Cigna, Veterans Services, Mass health and Commonwealth care (Type1
Does Tufts provide assistance for low-income patients?
Since we are a teaching facility and our fees are between 25-50 percent less than a private practice, we are unable to provide free care or low-income assistance. We can offer payment plans through our Clinic Business Office.
Why do I have to pay my co-payment before my insurance is billed or before I receive a billing statement?
Tufts Dental School’s policy is that all patients are required to pay for treatment at the time of your appointment. This includes any co-payments and/or deductibles for insurance patients.
How long does it take to process a refund?
In general, refunds are normally processed within 3-4 weeks.
What if I have dental insurance not accepted at Tufts?
Patients with dental insurance plans that are not accepted at Tufts Dental School are classified as “self-pay” patients. Upon completion of each dental procedure and if you have made payments in full for each procedure, you can request a claim form from the Business Office which you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
Do you have a price list for dental services?
Our fees are not posted, because all treatment requires a patient consultation and dental diagnosis.
Do you offer payment plans for dental care?
Patients without dental insurance are considered “self-pay” patients and are required to pay the full cost of their dental procedure at the time or in advance of treatment, unless other arrangements have been made through the Clinic Business Office.
Certain procedures, such as dentures, bridges and crowns can be paid in 1/3, with the final 1/3 being paid before delivery.
Payment plans are available in the Orthodontic Clinic and for extensive treatment in the Prosthodontic Clinic.
