Dr. Aboushalareceived his D.D.S. degree from Baath University/Syria in 1989 and then practiced two years of general dentistry before starting a residency in Craniomandibular and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders at Tufts (1993). He finished an Esthetic Dentistry Fellowship and a Master’s of Science degree from Tufts (1993–1996) where he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry. In 1999 he became the co-director for Gavel Center for dental research and in 2000 the Head Division of Advanced Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Aboushala completed his D.M.D. degree in 2006 from Tufts where he also completed an advanced specialty program in Endodontics. Dr. Aboushala is currently teaching as an Associate Professor in Endodontics, is a fellow in the International College of Dentists and maintains private practice in Boston greater area.
Alaaeddin Al Wazzan D.M.D, M.S., is presently the Assistant Director of Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry and Co-Director of pre-doctoral Occlusion course. He received his D.M.D. degree from Debrecen University/ Hungary in 2000. He started his residency of Prosthodontics at Tufts University, Boston Massachusetts (2001-2004). Following certification in Prosthodontics, he received a Master’s of Science degree from Tufts (2003-2005). Dr. Al Wazzan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, he is currently teaching as a full-time faculty member at Postgraduate Prosthodontics division.
Robert Chapman, D.M.D is currently Chairperson of the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry. He received his dental degree and certificate in Prosthodontics from Tufts. He co-founded the Dental Implant Center at Tufts and a member of the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, American College of Prosthodontists, and the American Academy of Dental Science. He has lectured nationally and internationally regarding prosthodontics, occlusion, craniofacial function, quality of life in dentistry, and dental implants. He has extensively written articles, research abstracts, and textbook chapters on these subjects. Dr. Chapman has a private practice in Prosthodontics in Boston.
Susana Ferreira D.D.S., is an Assistant Professor in the Scientific and Clinical Research Center. She received her DDS degree from Foplac- Faculdade de Odontologia de Brasilia, Brazil in 1999. She is a visiting professor in the Operative Department at Foplac Dental School in Brazil. She did her advanced training in Operative Dentistry at UFU – Universidade Federal de Uberlandia, Brazil in 1999. In USA she also did a residency in an Esthetic Dentistry Fellowship at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2000. Dr. Ferreira was a clinical instructor for the past 5 years at the Undergraduate Clinic at Tufts. Dr Ferreira has been a Principal and Co-investigator in several studies at Tufts. She has published and given lectures on Restorative Dentistry.
Timothy Hempton, D.D.S received his DDS from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his certificate in Periodontology from Marquette University in Wisconsin. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has a private practice is limited to Periodontology and Implantology in Dedham, Massachusetts. Presently, Dr. Hempton is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Tufts University, Boston Massachusetts and holds the position of Assistant Director of Graduate Periodontology. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology Education Committee, the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Hygiene Education Committee and serves as a Site Visitor for Postdoctoral Periodontology for the Joint Commission on Dental Accreditation. Dr. Hempton lectures nationally and is an editorial board member for industry publications.
Gerard Kugel, D.M.D., M.S., Ph.D., is the Associate Dean for Research, and Professor of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is on the Executive Board of the CRA and is Editor of Inside Dentistry. He is a Fellow in the American and International Colleges of Dentistry as well as the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Dental Materials. He has published over 150 articles and 200 abstracts in the field of restorative materials and techniques. He was given over 250 lectures both nationally and internationally. Dr. Kugel is part of a group practice, the Boston Center for Oral Health, located in Back Bay, Boston.
Noshir Mehta D.M.D, M.D.S, M.S. Noshir Mehta received his dental degree and specialty training in Periodontology with an MS degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. In 1976 Dr. Mehta was a co-founder of a TMJ clinic at Tufts; and in 1985 was named the first Director of the Gelb Craniomandibular and Orofacial Pain Center. He started one of the first postgraduate training programs dedicated to the interdisciplinary management of Temporomandibular Disorders. Dr. Mehta is currently Professor and Chairman of the Department of General Dentistry, Director of the Craniofacial Pain Center and Assistant Dean of International Relations at Tufts. Dr. Mehta is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and chapters in major textbooks on Orofacial Pain. He has and continues to lecture nationally and internationally on his areas of interest.
Ronald Perry D.M.D, M.S., F.A.C.D., F.A.G.D., F.I.C.D., F.A.D.I. is Director of the Gavel Center for Restorative Research and Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He owns and manages a private general dentistry practice, Meridian Dental Associates, in South Weymouth, MA. Dr. Perry graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. from Boston College. He earned his doctorate in dentistry from Boston University. He completed his M.S. in Dental Research at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Perry has been actively involved in constructing the fellowship exams for the Academy of General Dentistry and is a key opinion leader for dental manufacturers across the industry. He is a “Dawson Institute” graduate, holds fellowships in four different academies, has published over 40 articles and 60 abstracts, and lectures nationally and internationally.
Shradha Sharma B.D.S., D.M.D, is an Assistant Professor in the Scientific and Clinical Research Center, Department of Research Administration. She received her BDS degree from D.Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai University, India in 1998. She did a residency in Esthetic Dentistry Fellowship at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2001. She received her D.M.D degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, U.S.A in 2007. Dr. Sharma has been a clinical instructor at the Undergraduate Clinic at Tufts. Dr. Sharma has been a Principal and Co-investigator in several studies at Tufts University. She has published and given lectures on Restorative Dentistry.
