Initially, Kyle Dunmire, D14, was not planning to pursue dentistry. Although his mother was a dental assistant and he had experience shadowing in dental offices, he was more interested in pursuing a PhD within the biological sciences. But time in a research lab and enjoyment of hands-on tasks made him rethink his career path.
Food and friendship forge bonds between students and faculty that extend beyond talk of classrooms and clinics. “It’s a nice interaction with the students outside of school where you can discuss things freely,” says Karen Wallach, D85, Associate Clinical Professor and Practice Coordinator.
