Dr. Georgios Kanavakis is an Assistant Professor and Clinic Director in the Department of Orthodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).
As part of his duties, he supervises the post-graduate orthodontic residents in their clinical activities, is responsible for didactic teaching in several courses and is a member of the Orthodontic Admissions Committee. He also serves on several school-wide committees. Furthermore, Dr. Kanavakis serves as a research mentor for many of the post-graduate residents.
His personal research interests are:
- Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders
- Orthodontic treatment outcomes related to treatment timing
- Skeletal anchorage
- Facial esthetics and soft tissue treatment planning
Dr. Kanavakis completed his dental education (DDS) at the School of Dentistry in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
He holds a post-graduate certificate degree in Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain, a Master of Science degree (MS) and a post-graduate certificate degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Kanavakis is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), the American Association of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the Massacusetts Sleep Society and the Boston Pain Forum.
