Once a student has been formally admitted to TUSDM and has placed their initial deposit with the Office of Admissions, the Financial Aid Office will release a packet to the student with complete instructions on how to apply for financial aid. This packet will contain a Financial Aid Manual, Financial Aid Application Checklist, and information on where to access all financial aid required documents online. Please note that beginning in the 2013-2014 award year, it will be the responsibility of all students (both entering and continuing) to download their own paper financial aid application materials from this website. Paper copies of required documents will not be provided to any student. Click hereto access all paper financial aid documents. Please be aware that financial aid application procedures change each year, so requirements may differ after a student’s first year at Tufts.

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal FAFSA. Student must submit Student Aid Report (SAR) which they receive from Federal Student Aid Programs in response to their FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA (Federal school code number is E00519)
• Profile Application (CSS Profile code number is 8865)
• Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Application for Financial Aid
• Complete signed photocopy of student’s (and spouse if applicable) and parent’s US Tax Return including all schedules and W-2 forms from year preceding the academic year in which the student will be attending.

The deadline for financial aid applications is May 1st each year.  All required forms are due in the Financial Aid Office by May 1 in order to be considered for the most favorable aid programs.  Students who meet the deadline will be considered for the most favorable types of assistance.

Students are urged to begin application procedures as soon AFTER January 1 as possible. Application packets are mailed usually in mid to late December to students that have already paid the admissions deposit.  Students must re-apply for financial aid each year.

In order to be considered for Tufts Loan, HPSL, and Tufts Grant, the student is required to submit parent information on the Profile application and on the FAFSA form, as well as parents US Tax Return and W-2 form(s).   Students who wish to apply for Federal Perkins, Federal Stafford and Grad PLUS loan programs only can do so. These students do not need to complete the Profile Application or submit a copy of their parent’s tax return. Only student income and asset information must be supplied on the FAFSA form to apply for these particular programs.
