Hans-Peter Weber, D.M.D., Dr. med. dent. was appointed as Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry in February 2010. Prior to joining Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine across town. Dr. Weber holds dental degrees from the University of Berne, Switzerland (Dr. med. dent., 1976) and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (D.M.D., 1990), as well as Certificates in Prosthodontics (1979) and Periodontology (1984) from the University of Berne.
He has contributed extensively to the scientific literature in his field and is a frequently invited lecturer at national and international meetings. He is a member of the Executive Council of the American Academy of Prosthodontics, an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists, and a Member of the Board of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). Dr. Weber also serves as Associate Editor of the journal Clinical Oral Implants Research and as reviewer for several other dental journals.
Nopsaran Chaimattayompol (Nui), D.M.D., M.P.H. received his first dental degree, D.D.S., from Mahidol University of Dentistry, Thailand in 1994, earned his specialty certificate in Prosthodontics in 1997 and fellowship certificate in Implant Dentistry in 1999 both from New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD). He later received his D.M.D. and M.P.H. from TUSDM and Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM), respectively, in 2003.
Dr. Chaimattayompol joined TUSDM as a faculty member in 1999. He is presently a Clinical Professor, Division Head of Prosthodontics and maintains his private practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry. He has conducted many courses and directs Implant Dentistry in the Predoctoral Prosthodontics Program. Dr. Chaimattayompol holds a membership in the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American College of Prosthodontists, International College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, and the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He has lectured locally, nationally and internationally as well as published several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Chaimattayompol’s current research interests are implant overdentures and independent implant overdenture attachments and prosthodontic dental education.
Kiho Kang, D.D.S., D.M.D., M.S., FACP is currently an Associate Professor and Interim Program Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and Advanced Dental Technology (ADT) & Research Program. He holds dental degrees from Dankook University in South Korea (D.D.S., 1989) and TUSDM (D.M.D., 2002). He also received his master’s degree in Oral Biology from Georgia Regents University (GRU) College of Dental Medicine (M.S., 1995) and his specialty certificate in Prosthodontics from TUSDM (1998).
Dr. Kang has been a faculty member at TUSDM since 1998 and served as Associate Program Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and the Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry program (now Advanced Education in Esthetics and Operative Dentistry [AEEOD]) from 2005 to 2008. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He has lectured as well as published articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He served as an editor for the previous CD-ROM versions of The ACP Study Guide for Board Certification in Prosthodontics and presently serves on the Editorial Review Board of The Journal of Prosthodontics. He is a board-certified prosthodontist and maintains a part-time private practice specializing in prosthodontics, implant, esthetic, and reconstructive dentistry.
Aikaterini Papthanasiou, D.D.S., CAGS, FIADFE, FICD is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Advanced Education in Esthetics and Operative Dentistry (AEEOD) Program. Dr. Papathanasiou is a graduate of the University of Athens School of Dentistry in Greece. In 1996, she received her Postgraduate Certificate in Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Cariology from the Aarhus University Royal Dental College in Denmark. She continued her postgraduate training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) and received her Postgraduate Certificate of Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry in 1997. From 1998 until 2003, Dr. Papathanasiou was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry at TUSDM, teaching Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral students and conducting research. In 2006, she became an Adjunct Associate Professor at TUSDM and maintained the title until 2013, when she returned in a full-time faculty position.
Currently, Dr. Papathanasiou is the Director of the AEEOD Program in the Department of Prosthodontics at TUSDM. She has also served as a Visiting Lecturer for the Continuing Dental Education Programs at New York University College of Dentistry since 2007. Dr. Papathanasiou has conducted multiple research projects and has numerous publications in peer reviewed dental journals. She lectures and gives hands-on workshops nationally and internationally on Tooth Whitening and Esthetic Dentistry, and is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) and the International Academy for Dental and Facial Esthetics (IADFE). Dr. Papathanasiou is the Editor in Chief of the Greek dental journal “Esthetic Dentistry and Implantology,” and is also part of the Editorial Team of REALITY ESTHETICS (REALITY Publishing Company) and the Editorial Review Board of Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry (jCD). Dr. Papathanasiou maintained, for many years, a private practice limited to Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry in Athens, Greece.
