Full Time Faculty

Dr. Maria B. Papageorge is a tenured Professor, Chair and Director of the advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is also Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs and Chair of the Department of Dentistry at Tufts Medical Center. She has been on the faculty in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1986.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College, and her DMD degree and MS degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She completed her Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellowship in Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery from Tufts and Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Papageorge is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchaud Academy. Her extensive research and clinical interests include cancer, maxillofacial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, and implant surgery.

Dr. Lonnie H. Norris is Dean Emeritus and a tenured professor and has been on faculty since 1980.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University and his DMD from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Tufts Medical Center and Boston City Hospital.

Dr. Norris is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International College of Dentistry and the American College of Dentists.

Dr. Morton Rosenberg is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Head, Division of Anesthesia and Pain Control. He is also Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, and has been on faculty since 1975.

Dr. Rosenberg received his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and his residency in Anesthesia at Tufts Medical Center.

A nationally recognized leader and educator in dental sedation and anesthesia, he has published extensively in the dental and medical literatures. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Constantinos Laskarides is Associate Professor and Assistant Director of the advanced education program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has been on faculty since 2006.

He received his DMD degree and his PharmD degree from the University of Athens, Greece. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Laskarides is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His clinical interests include facial cosmetic and orthognathic surgery, advanced implant and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, and primary cleft lip and palate repair. He participates annually in surgical expeditions to the third world for the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate.

Dr. Daniel Oreadi is an Assistant Professor. He received his DMD degree from the Universidad Central of Venezuela. He completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston University in 2003 and at Tufts University in 2005; he then completed his advanced education training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center in 2009. In 2010 he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.

Dr. Oreadi is a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His clinical interests include benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity, head and neck, salivary gland surgery, nerve repair, maxillofacial trauma and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. David Joey Chang is an Assistant Professor, Director of the pre-doctoral program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also an attending in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts Medical Center. He has been on the faculty in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2012.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University, and his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Tufts Medical Center. His clinical interests include maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea and orthognathic surgery, and implant surgery.

Dr. Roger B. Galburt is a Clinical Professor and Director of the Implant Center and has been on faculty since 1977.

He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of the City of New York Brooklyn College, and his DDS from New York University College of Dentistry. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Prosthodontics at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine.

He is a Consultant and Examiner with the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, South Shore Dental Society, and American College of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Archana Viswanath is Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Research in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She has been on the faculty since 2012. She received her dental degree from Bangalore, India in 2000 and her Master’s degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (formerly New Jersey Dental School) in 2007. She completed her Advanced Education Training in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and a fellowship from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Viswanath is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. She completed NIH Training Program in Oral and Craniofacial Biology (T-32) focusing on clinical research at University of Maryland Dental School prior to joining Tufts as faculty.  Dr.Viswanath’s clinical and research interests are in acute and chronic craniofacial pain, with an emphasis on temporomandibular joint disorders, sequela of neurologic injuries and cancer pain.

Part Time Faculty

Dr. Nicholas G. Capobianco is Assistant Clinical Professor, and has been on faculty since 2011. He received his Bachelor of Science from Fairfield University and his D.D.S. from Saint Louis University School of Dentistry. He completed his Advanced Education Training at the University of Maryland Hospital, Hospital Empleados, and The Worcester City Hospital. Dr. Capobianco is a Retired Life member of the American Dental Association. He is also a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The Rhode Island Dental Association. Dr. Capobianco teaches in the pre-doctoral clinic.

Dr. Edward D’Eramo is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1974. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at UCLA-VA Medical Center. Dr D’Eramo is a member of the American Dental Association, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Massachusetts Dental Society, Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Diplomate, American Board of Oral Medicine, Fellow, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. D’Eramo primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Mahmoud El-Hadidy is Clinical Assistant Professor and has been on faculty since 2004.

He received his DDS from Al-Azhar University Faculty of Dental Medicine and his BDS for Alexandria University Faculty of Dentistry. He studied Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University of Dental Medicine from 1979 to1981 and completed a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Illinois from 1984 to 1985. He received a Specialty Diploma from Al-Azhar University Faculty of Dental Medicine, Cairo, Egypt and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. El-Hadidy is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Academy for Osseointegration, International Association for Dental Research. Dr. El-Hadidy primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Hamid Esbah-Tabatabaei is a Clinical Instructor and has been on faculty since 2008. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Elizabeth College and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. Dr. Esbah-Tabatabaei is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Esbah-Tabatabaei primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Lewis Estabrooks is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1970.

He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Rochester and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, New England Medical Center and Boston City Hospital.

Dr. Estabrooks is a Member of the Maine Dental Assocation, American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow American Dental Society of Anesthesia. Dr. Estabrooks, primarily teaches in the advanced education program.

Dr. Paul Marino is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1971.

He received his D.D.S. degree from Temple University School of Dentistry. He completed his and his advanced education training in Oral and Maxillofacial at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. and at Boston University Graduate School of Dentistry.

From 1997-2001, he was full-time faculty member for the Special Needs program at Tufts.

Dr. Marino is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and member of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Marino primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Lawrence Herman is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1974.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University, Montreal and his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Albert Einsetin College of Medicine and Kings College Hospital and Dental School , London, England.

Dr. Herman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Herman participates annually in surgical expeditions to the third world for the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate.

Dr. Marcin Jarmoc is a Clinical Instructor and has been on faculty since 2011. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida and his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and TUFTS Medical Center. He is a member of the American Dental Society, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiology and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental honor Society. Dr. Jarmoc teaches in the pre-doctoral and post- doctoral programs and practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. James Kraus is a Clinical Instructor and has been on faculty since 2011. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint Michael’s College and his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and TUFTS Medical Center. Dr. Kraus completed a one year fellowship in Pediatric and Adult Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital; Royal Melbourne Hospital and Epworth Medical Center, Melbourne, Australia.

He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Australian & New Zealand Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Trauma Society.

Dr. Kraus teaches in the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral programs. He practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with special interest in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Joseph Leibovici is Clinical Instructor and has been faculty since 2009. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University and his DMD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Leibovici is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Leibovici primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Laith Azzouni is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been faculty since 2010. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Jordan and his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He received his OMS Certificate from Montefiore Medical Center, NY.

Dr. Azzouni is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He teaches in the post and pre-doctoral program.

Dr. William Gilmore is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1979. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts. Dr. Gilmore is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and a member of the American Dental Association, Mass Dental Society, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Gilmore teaches in the pre-doctoral programs.

Dr. Christopher Maller is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1988. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters of Science from the University of Maine and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Wm. Beaumont Army Medical Center and Surgical Anesthesia at Boston City Hospital. Dr. Maller is a Diplomate of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, and Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia. Dr. Maller teaches pain control in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. Shibly Malouf is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1968. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Bates College and his DDS from Temple University School of Dentistry. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Malouf is a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the International Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Malouf primarily teaches in the pre-doctoral program.

Dr. David Prindiville is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 2012.  He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1972.  He completed his Advanced Education Training at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York in 1975.

Dr. Prindiville is a Fellow of the International Association of Oral Surgeons, American Society of Dental Anesthesia, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Northeast Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.  Dr. Prindiville teaches in the pre doctoral program.

Dr. Lou Rissin is Associate Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1996.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont and his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine.

He completed his Advanced Education Training in Prosthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Rissin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Steven Rubin is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 2014.  He received his Bachelor of Arts from Clark University in 1971 and his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1975.  He completed his Advanced Education Training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York in 1979.

Dr. Rubin is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, New York Academy of Dentistry and Pierre Fauchard Academy.  He is a member of American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York County Dental Society and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Alumni Association.  Dr. Rubin teaches in the pre doctoral program.

Dr. Peter Theoharides is Assistant Clinical Professor and has been on faculty since 1990.

He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College, and his DMD from the University Of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Advanced Education Training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Emeritus Faculty

Dr. H. Chris Doku is Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He was on faculty from 1970 until 1999.

He received his Faculty of Science Certificate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and as his DDS degree from the University of Istanbul. He completed his Advanced Education Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and in General Anesthesia at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. He also received his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Doku served as Chair and Director of the advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1965 to 1999. He also served as the Assistant/Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs, Chairman of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Coordinator Tufts General Practice Residency Program in Dentistry.

Dr. Doku is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Dental society of Anesthesiology, Fellow of International Association of Oral Surgeons, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
