Charles Rankin, D.M.D. is Professor and Interim Chairman of the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion.Dr. Rankin, a native of Everett, Massachusetts, entered the dental field in 1968 when he was assigned as a dental technician in the U.S. Air Force. He received his B.A. in Biology from Salem State College in 1976 and his D.M.D. from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine in 1979. Dr. Rankin practiced five years as an Air Force general dentist and returned to Tufts to earn his endodontic certificate in 1986. He became Board-certified by the American Board of Endodontics in 1990. He practiced endodontics at Andrews AFB in Maryland and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado before retiring from the Air Force in 1995.Dr. Rankin joined TUSDM in 1996 and served as the Director of Predoctoral Endodontics for fifteen years. He currently limits his practice to endodontics in Tufts Dental Associates at 1 Kneeland Street. Dr. Rankin was presented with the Dean’s Award in Clinical Teaching in 2000 and the Dean’s Award in Preclinical Teaching in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American Association of Endodontists, American College of Dentists and the Massachusetts Association of Endodontists. Dr. Rankin has lectured locally, nationally and internationally as well as published several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His current research interests include examining the possible correlation between Raynaud’s phenomenon and pulpal disease.
Aruna Ramesh, B.D.S., D.M.D., M. S. Dr. Aruna Ramesh is an Associate Professor and Assistant Chairperson of the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion. She is the Head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.Dr. Ramesh received her BDS degree from Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, MGR University, India in 1994. She received her Masters in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in 2000 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She received her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2004.Dr. Ramesh Joined TUSDM in 2001 as an instructor. She has served as Head of the Division of OMFR since 2003. She has a private practice limited to Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She divides her time among teaching, patient care, research and administrative responsibilities at TUSDM.
Kathleen Coyne, D.M.D.Dr. Kathleen Coyne is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Practice Coordinator for Group 7. Dr. Coyne earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tufts University, an M.A.T. degree from Bridgewater State College and her D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Prior to coming to Tufts, Dr. Coyne was in private practice for twenty years in Hinghan, Mass.
Theano Eliopoulos, D.M.D. Dr. Eliopoulos is a native of Winchester, Massachusetts. She received her BA from Tufts University, then her DMD in 1985 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation she worked as a clinical instructor part time at Tufts Dental School in the Division of Prevention and Nutrition, while pursuing associateship positions at several practices north of Boston. She started her private practice in Woburn, Massachusetts in 1988 and practiced there for 24 years. In 2012 she teamed up with her husband’s private practice in Chelmsford, where she still practices part time. She joined the Tufts Dental School faculty as a clinical instructor and is the Practice Coordinator for Group 3. She is happy to be back at her alma mater.
Alan Epstein, D.M.D. Dr. Epstein is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotions and Practice Coordinator for Group 2. He was an Operative Instructor in the Department of General Dentistry for 2 years before assuming his current position in 2011. Watching his students’ progress in their clinical skills has been incredibly satisfying; the supportive academic atmosphere at Tufts has reinvigorated his enthusiasm for the profession. Dr. Epstein maintains his private practice in Brookline, and is pleased to recognize that he has treated a significant number of his patients from the time he graduated Tufts in 1982. He wishes to impart a sense of compassion and a clear ethical sense to his students, along with the unequalled technical skills for which Tufts is nationally respected.
Diana J. Esshaki DMD, MS.Dr. Esshaki is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Esshaki supervises the training of Tufts University dental students in oral health care management of the medically complex patient population. She also maintains private practice in the financial district of Boston.Dr. Esshaki earned her B.A. from Boston University in Classical History and Biology. She received her Master’s of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, and her D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.Dr. Esshaki is honored to be a past recipient of the Academy of Oral Medicine Certificate of Merit Award, the Dr. Frank Susi Endowed Prize Fund for Future Faculty Promise & Distinction, and the Tufts University Dr. William W. and Usha N. Seller Scholarship.Dr. Esshaki maintains membership with the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Education Association.
Edward Fidrocki, D.D.S.Dr. Edward Fidrocki is an Assistant Clinical Professor and has been a Practice Coordinator since 2003. He received his B.S. from University of Vermont and a D.D.S. from New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Fidrocki also is a general dentistry at North End Waterfront Health/ Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was Dental Director for over 15 years.
Kanchan Ganda, M.D. Dr. Kanchan Ganda, a resident of Weston, Massachusetts, is Professor and Head, Division of Medicine, Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). She is also an Associate Staff at the Department of Dentistry, Tufts Medical Center.She received her undergraduate education from Jai Hind College affiliated with Bombay University in Bombay, India. Dr. Ganda obtained her Doctorate of Medicine in 1973 from Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial (K.E.M.) Hospital in Bombay, India. Following graduation from medical school, she went on to complete her Medical Internship and Residency in Anesthesiology at King Edward Memorial (K.E.M.) Hospital in Bombay, India.Dr. Ganda is a licensed Physician and has been a Faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), since 1980. As Course Director and teacher for Pre-doctoral and Post-doctoral Medicine Courses, Dr. Ganda is involved with the education and training of pre and postdoctoral dental students. Dr. Ganda is also the Medical Consultant for pre and post-doctoral Dental Clinics.
Rumpa Ganguly B.D.S., D.M.D, M.S.Dr. Ganguly is an assistant professor in the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She completed her specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and an M.S. in Stomatology at the University of Iowa in 2009.Dr. Ganguly has been certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and is a Diplomate of the board since 2009. She has served as a full time faculty member in the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at Tufts since 2009 and is involved with teaching Radiology and mentoring research projects for the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students.
Ruby K. Ghaffari D.M.D. Dr. Ruby Ghaffari is an Assistant Professor and Dental Director of TUSDM Urgent Care program in the department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion, Division of Medicine.She received her DMD degree from Tufts University in 1992. Upon graduation, she started teaching part time in the department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry and continued volunteering her time throughout her career. She has been in private practice for the past 21 years and developed two practices in Newton and Downtown Boston. In 2006, she moved to Dubai and joined a multispecialty dental group concentrating on treating complex dental rehabilitation cases. She has also served as a Practice Coordinator prior to joining the Division of Medicine.
Harish Gulati BDS, DDS is an Associate Clinical Professor of the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion.Dr. Gulati joined Tufts University in 2005 as a Practice coordinator. He graduated from Mumbai University, India in 2001. He pursued his postgraduate education from Boston University in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry. Besides being a faculty at Tufts University Dr. Gulati practices part time in the Boston Area.Dr. Gulati serves as a consultant for Dental Advisor and a reviewer for Journal of Academy of General Dentistry and Journal of Dental Education. He has published in national and international journal and lectures locally, nationally and internationally.He is a designated PEARL (Practitioner Engaged in Applied Research and Learning) practitioner in Massachusetts, Sponsored by National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial ResearchHe is also the faculty Advisor for SAMDA (South Asian Medical and Dental Student Association) at Tufts and has organized several Dental screening events in the community.He is a member of American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, American Dental Education Association and Indian Dental Association.
Natalie HagelNatalie Hagel RDH, MSis Assistant Professor in the Division of Nutrition in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion. She received an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene at Middlesex Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree at University of Massachusetts in Exercise Physiology and a Master’s of Science degree in College Student Development and Counseling at Northeastern University. Prior to joining TUSDM in May 2007, Natalie practiced dental hygiene for over 20 years in private specialty offices in Pediatrics and Periodontics. She is also a Public Health dental hygienist and has worked in the Boston Public Schools with the elementary schoolchildren for the past eight years in addition to teaching. She has presented lectures on ergonomics, dental instrumentation and school wide dental health programs at the Yankee Dental Conference and the National Oral Health Conferences. Her current interests are the prevention of dental disease- using the CAMBRA protocol and Interprofessional Education (IPE). She is an active member of the American Public Health Association, the American Dental Education Association and the American Dental Hygienists Association. She presently serves as Oral Health Section Councilor in the American Public Health Association.She enjoys spending as much time as possible with her two grandsons, Benjamin and William and summers in Wells, Maine.
Mary Jane Hanlon, R.D.H., D.M.D, M.B.A. Dr. Mary Jane Hanlon is an Assistant Clinical Professor and a Practice Coordinator for Group 1.She received her DMD degree from Tufts University in 1997 following fifteen years of private practice as a dental hygienist. In May of 2013, she accomplished a lifelong goal of obtaining an MBA matriculating at Suffolk University. Currently, she maintains a private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts in addition to her responsibilities at Tufts. She is very active as a volunteer in many dental related organizations.Currently, she is the Trustee for the Middlesex District of the Massachusetts Dental Society. Additionally, she has served as Scientific Chair of Yankee Dental, Chair of the Council on Public Affairs and Chair of the Council on Dental Education. She is active in the New England MasterTrack organization where she is set to complete her Masters in September of 2013. She is the organizations current treasurer. In addition, she is the first female Co-chair of the Dental M Fund, the fundraising arm of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Richard S. Harold, D.M.D., J.D.Dr. Richard S. Harold is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Practice Coordinator in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion.Dr. Harold, a Massachusetts native, owned and operated a general dentistry practice in Malden for over 25 years before joining the Tufts faculty. He received his B.S. degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1975, and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1980. Dr. Harold is also an attorney and received his J.D. degree from New England School of Law in 1995. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.Dr. Harold has developed and participated in several dental public health programs. He helped establish a dental clinic in Flores, Honduras, Central America where he has visited over the years providing dental services to residents. Within the Malden Public Schools, Dr. Harold provided a dental screening and educational program to grade school students.Dr. Harold holds membership in the American Dental Association, American Dental EducationAssociation and the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine. Dr. Harold has a specific interest in dental-legal issues and is a consultant in the areas of dental record keeping, documentation, prescription writing, regulatory issues, dental negligence and standards of care. He has lectured locally and nationally and has published several dental-legal articles.
Olympia Karacosta Dr. Olympia Karacosta is an Assistant Clinical Professor and a Practice Coordinator for Group Berkeley. She has been a faculty at Tufts University in the Department of General Dentistry since 2000. Dr. Karacosta has received her first dental degree, D.D.S., from University of Athens, School of Dental Medicine. She was then accepted at Tufts University where she completed the Esthetic Dentistry Fellowship Program. Upon graduation, she started teaching in the undergraduate clinic as a Practice Coordinator. In 2007, she received her second dental degree, D.M.D., from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and the same year she completed the Implant Dentistry Fellowship in the Implant Center at Tufts University. Dr. Karacosta has also practiced in a dental private practice both in Athens, Greece, and in Boston.Dr. Olympia Karacosta has been a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Academy of Osseointegration.
Mary KalishMary Karish-Dodge, D.M.D. Mary V. Karish-Dodge, DMD is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Group Practice Coordinator.She received her BS degree from Boston College and her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Karish is a General Dentist in Woonsocket; RI. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Rhode Island Dental Association and is a Past- President of the Woonsocket District Dental Society. She is currently the Chairperson for the RIDA Council on Ethics, By-Laws and Judicial Affairs. Dr. Karish is a Member of the Academy of General Dentistry and currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Rhode Island section. Dr. Karish is a consultant to the Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation, and is an assistant lead in the dental triage area at the Rhode Island Mission of Mercy annual free dental clinic.
David M. Leader, D.M.D., M.P.H.is an Associate Clinical Professor and Practice Coordinator.He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History from Emory University in 1981. He received his D.M.D. Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1985. He is a 2013 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine MPH program.Dr. Leader began his career in dental education in 1985 in Radiology then in Geriatrics. He returned to teaching after a 15 year hiatus (for childrearing) to New Patient Encounter and Emergency Dentistry, and has been a Group Practice Coordinator since 2007.Dr. Leader is the Chairman of the Massachusetts Dental Society Council on Dental Benefit and Reimbursement Plans and is the MDS State Chair of Peer Review. He serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the New England Chapter of the National Scleroderma Foundation. He is an Evidence Based Reviewer for the American Dental Association Center for Evidence Based Dentistry. Dr. Leader is the author of over 100 dental and health articles published in the Malden Observer, websites, and other newspapers. Additionally Dr. Leader has published in the Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. Leader lectures nationally on scleroderma and oral health. Dr. Leader practices in Malden, Massachusetts. His current research is in peer review and access to oral health care for scleroderma patients.David Leader was named the Scleroderma Foundation Doctor of the year in 2008. He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the American Dental Association.
Daniel W. Lee, D.M.D.Dr. Lee is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University. He received a Master’s Degree in Biophysics from Boston University School of Medicine and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lee has been on faculty at Tufts since 1984. Dr. Lee, for the past several years, has volunteered his time on numerous visits to the Republic of Moldova where he treats children at orphanages. Dr. Lee is in private practice in Lexington, Mass.
William Lobel, D.M.D. Dr Lobel received his B.A. From Brooklyn College and DMD from Tufts University. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on various prosthodontic topics. He has been visiting faculty at the LD Pankey Institute, Scottsdale Center for Dentistry and co-founder of the Massad Center for Higher Learning.Dr. Lobel is a life member of the ADA, fellow of American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, OKU, Pierre Fauchard Academy, International Academy of Facial Dental Esthetics and Academy of Dental Science .He has achieved the Dean’s Award for Clinical Teaching three times as a member of the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry. Currently serving as Associate Clinical Professor and Practice Coordinator in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion. Dr. Lobel has also been in private practice for the past forty one years and on the TUSDM Faculty for fifteen years.
Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, D.M.D.Dr. Maragliano-Muniz is a board-eligible prosthodontist and earned her certificate from the UCLA School of Dentistry after obtaining her D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She is also a former dental hygienist: she earned her B.S.D.H. degree from Northeastern University and the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists, A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene and A.S. degree in Math and Science from SUNY Orange.Since being awarded the 2010 Adult Preventive Care Practice of the Year by the American Dental Association, Dr. Maragliano-Muniz lectures nationally. She has recent publications that discuss Implementing CAMBRA in the private practice and the clinical effects of CAMBRA on root surfaces.Dr. Maragliano-Muniz is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and maintains private practices at Charles River Dental in Boston, MA and with Gary Wheeler, DDS in Lynn, MA.Dr. Maragliano-Muniz maintains professional memberships with the following organizations: American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Education Association, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, ITI Study Club
Patrick McGarry, D.M.D. Dr. McGarry received his DMD Degree from Tufts in 1983 and his Masters in Healthcare Administration in 2008 from New England College. Dr. McGarry served from 1988-2000 in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. Taking time to raise a family he returned to the Tufts faculty in 2011 as a Practice Coordinator for the Arlington Group in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion. He is or has been a member of the American Dental Association, Maine Dental Association, American Academy of Gold Foil Operators, Academy of General Dentistry, International Association of Dental Research, American Association of Implantology and the American Osteogenisi Imperfecta Society. Dr. McGarry attained Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry in early 2000. He has published and lectured on various topics in New England and the United States.
Richard McNulty Dr. McNulty is an Assistant Clinical Professor and a Practice Coordinator for Group 7. He is a 1975 honors graduate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts in 1979. Following graduation he entered into a residency in Anesthesiology at UCLA`s Harbor Medical Center in Torrance California, where he received training in emergency medicine and general and conscious sedation. Over thirty years , Dr. McNulty has started and developed three general practices in West Roxbury, Wellesley and on Martha`s Vineyard. Dr. McNulty is a member in the American Dental Association.
Carole A. Palmer Ed.D., RD, LD is Professor and Head of the Division of Nutrition in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion.Dr. Palmer is a native of the Boston area, having been raised in Malden and Winchester. She received her undergraduate degree in nutrition at Simmons College, her Masters’ degree/ Dietetic Internship at Tufts University and the New England Medical Center Hospital (now Tufts Medical Center), and her Doctorate in Educational Policy, Planning, and Administration at Boston University.In addition to her full time position at the dental school, Dr. Palmer is also Professor and Head of the Master’s Degree component of the Frances Stern Combined Dietetic Internship Master’s program at Tufts’ Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Adjunct Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, Department of Public Health and Staff Nutritionist at the Frances Stern Nutrition Center of Tufts Medical Center.Dr. Palmer’s primary research emphasis has been the study of relationships between diet and/or nutrition, and oral conditions and effectively communication of these issues to professionals and the public. She is also a leader in developing models for implementing nutrition care in clinical dental settings. Her current interests are in nutrition and early childhood caries, teacher training for faculty and students, and Interprofessional Education (IPE). She is active in the American Dental Education Association, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and American Association of Clinical Nutrition. She currently serves as chair of the New Hampshire Board of Licensed Dietitians, the state licensing board for nutrition professionals.She has written extensively in the professional and lay literature, has consulted widely on nutrition and oral health issues, has appeared frequently on radio, television, and in print media, and is completing the third edition of her acclaimed textbook: Palmer, C; Boyd L. Diet and Nutrition in Oral Health.She lives along the beautiful Contoocook River in Concord, NH with her husband and four fur babies: Zoe, Lola, Snowy, and Muchacho!!!!!
Ellen Patterson, MD, MA is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnosis and Health Promotion and TUSDM’s Director of Interprofessional Education. Dr. Patterson graduated from the combined BA/MD program at Boston University School of Medicine and completed her residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Vermont. She previously worked in private psychiatric practice in Maine, and received an M.A. in Health Communication from Emerson College in 2011. Her interests include patient-provider communication, shared medical decision-making, and innovative health education strategies to promote collaborative care.
David S. Paul, D.M.D.Dr. David Paul is an Associate Professor and has been a faculty member since 1990, first in the Dept. of Operative & Prosthodontics, and since 1999 as a Practice Coordinator in the Dept. of Diagnosis & Health Promotion.He is a native of Lexington, MA and earned his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University. Dr. Paul received his D.M.D. from Tufts in 1989, before completing a General Practice Residency at Boston City Hospital, and then maintained a practice in Concord, Massachusetts. He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Association of Dental Education.Dr. Paul is active in International Public Heath, having lectured both nationally and internationally. He volunteers much of his time, serving those in need. To date he has led more than fifteen Medical/Dental teams into some of the poorest, and most underserved countries, such as Haiti, Nicaragua, Zambia, and the Dominican Republic. Since 2005 Dr. Paul has served on the Board of Directors for Help Mercy International, and has also directed the dental school’s component of the Nicaragua Community Service Learning Experience. He is currently working with the Nashoba Valley Rotary to help build a mobile dental clinic that will serve the rural San Felipi area in the Dominican Republic.
Kathryn Ragalis, D.M.D., M.S.Dr. Kathryn Ragalis is an Associate Professor, a Practice Coordinator and Chair of the Ethics, Professionalism and Citizenship Committee. She is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Post-graduate education includes a Fellowship in Rehabilitation Dentistry at the University of Washington and a Master of Science Degree in Dental Public Health from Boston University. Dr. Ragalis has practiced general dentistry part-time and contributed chapters for 4 editions of the text Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist, and for the text The Fearful Dental Patient: A Guide to Understanding and Management.
Alberto Sarmiento, D.D.S. Dr. Alberto Sarmiento is an Assistant Clinical Professor working in the undergraduate dental clinic as Practice Coordinator for Group Practice Berkeley. He received his DDS degree from the Metropolitan University in Barranquilla Colombia and he also completed two years in Advance Education in General Dentistry at the University of Connecticut. Currently he is practicing at Tufts Dental Associate Faculty Practice as general dentist part time. Dr. Sarmiento is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association. In his spare time Dr. Sarmiento enjoys traveling around the country, going to the movies and watching the Red Sox.
Sam Shames, D.M.D., M.A.G.D. is the Director of Practice Management after serving for over ten years as Assistant Clinical Professor for the Restorative Department.He received his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and his M.A.G.D. from the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Shames practiced for twenty years on Newbury St. in Boston; and has developed and opened over twenty five multi-specialty group practices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He is the managing partner of the Gentle Dental Partners of New England, which consists of a network of over 100 dentists practicing in New England. This has given Dr. Shames extensive experience in dental leasehold improvements, lease negotiation, partnership agreements, practice purchases, and associate relationships. In his career, he has lectured nationally on practice management, emphasizing an equity sharing multispecialty group practice model. Dr. Shames is a corporate member of Delta Dental and serves on their professional advisory committee.
Denisa Stasa, D.M.D. Dr. Stasa is a Clinical Instructor and Practice Coordinator for Group 5.She earned her B.S. degree from Simmons College and her D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Before joining Tufts University, Dr. Stasa worked as a general dentist in a private practice in Quincy, MA and Codman Health Center in Dorchester, MA.
Paul L. Trombly, D.M.D.Dr. Paul Trombly is an Associate Clinical Professor and has been a Practice Coordinator for 8 years. He received a BS in psychology from Syracuse University, an MA in physiology from Ball State University and his DMD from here at Tufts. His post graduate education included a 1 year GPR at Coler Memorial Hospital in New York City. He received a Certificates from the New York University School of Dentistry in the “Clinical Diagnosis and Management of TMD” and “Advanced Program in Orofacial Pain Management”. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. He maintains Private Practices in Somerset, Massachusetts and on Block Island, Rhode Island.
Karen Wallach, D.M.D.Dr. Karen Wallach is an Associate Clinical Professor and a Practice Coordinator.Dr. Wallach has been a member of the dental faculty since 1985. Dr. Wallach earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College, New York, a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and earned her DMD Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Wallach is the Faculty Advisor for the Smile Squad, a student outreach group that teaches about dental health in community outreach locations and a Faculty Advisor for Delta Sigma Delta, an international dental fraternity. Prior to becoming a Practice Coordinator in 2003, Dr. Wallach was a general dentist at the North End Community Health Center for 16 years.
Paul Vankevich, D.M.D.Dr. Vankevich is an Assistant Professor and the Introduction to Clinical Experience Course Director.He is a 1981 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and a retired Dental Officer of the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.

Patty DiAngelis, Department Administrator.Patty has been with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine since 1993. Patty provides administrative support to the Chairman, Division Heads and Faculty of the Department of Diagnosis & Health Promotion.
