Welcome to our page! At Tufts, we strive to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for students from the diverse array of backgrounds represented in the predoctoral classes. We are pleased to have a resource system in place for this component of our school community.
Prospective GLBT students who wish to hear current students’ perspectives can contact applicant liaisons Rafael Quintanar and Sabrina Coombs. They will be able to answer questions or connect applicants to students with similar backgrounds when possible. Applicants may also request to meet with a representative from the organization prior to the interview process, which may help to provide applicants a better picture of the school and the environment for GLBT students. Please do not hesitate to contact us. All inquiries are confidential and we will not disclose any personal information.
LGBTA President: Rafael Quintanar
Director of LGBTA Communications: Sabrina Coombs
Co-Faculty Advisors: Dr. Amit Sachdeo and Dr. Bridget Mackey
As a group, we are working to expand our community outreach and partner with open organizations to promote awareness for Tufts Dental, with activities such as dental screenings at offsite locations with faculty members. In addition, there is a lively social component including social events with Tufts University Health Science Queer “Tuhsq” Coalition, Sunday brunches and semester dinners with faculty, Friday night get-togethers and mixers with other GLBTA organizations.
“Tufts Dental is such a wonderful school. The students here are all very welcoming. We are all here to learn and become the best dentists we can, and I feel there is no better place than Tufts to do so. At Tufts, I can be who I am. I do not have to fear about being treated differently because of my sexual orientation. The faculty, staff, administration, and student body have been very supportive and accepting.”
There is currently no fee to join the group! Official group meetings occur approximately once per month and serve to announce upcoming events and to allow members to voice their opinions. We welcome all feedback, especially new ideas! There is also a list-serve available, which includes news about upcoming club events and any other current news pertaining to the Tufts GLBTA community. To join the list-serve, or any additional question, please email either Rafael Quintanar or Sabrina Coombs (see emails listed above). We look forward to meeting and working with both prospective AND current students
