A pre-doctoral student qualifies for membership with outstanding accomplishments, high scholarship, his or her character, potential for leadership, professionalism and ethics. Our chapter chooses only the top 12% of each year’s graduating class for induction.
Omicron Kappa Upsilon defines an active member as one who pays OKU dues every year. When an active member reaches the age of 60, and completes 30 years of dues payment, OKU deems him or her a Life member and exempt from paying dues. Our chapter currently boasts 98 Life members.
Dues help support the yearly activities of this chapter, including
- Induction of new members at the Convocation Dinner and graduation
- Yearly student Scholarships and Achievement Awards including the Bates Day Research Award
- Purchase of OKU Stoles to wear at graduation, OKU Pins and OKU Certificates for new members
- Convocation Dinner activities
Omicron Kappa Upsilon inducted twenty students at a ceremony held at the Revere Hotel on May 18, 2012. The ceremony featured guest speaker, Dean Huw F. Thomas, 16th Dean of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
