Communication Skills Workshop: Active Learning in a Large Classroom

lightbulbBackground: At Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), faculty members continue to create new ways to help students develop communication skills critical to the 21st century workplace. Recently, Ellen Patterson, the course director for IDP I, piloted a communication skills workshop for the first year students which was strategically designed with active learning strategies to replace a traditional large lecture format. The goals of the workshop were to introduce the students to team-based learning (TBL) and to integrate development of communication skills. more »
