The Learning Brain

As an Education Technology expert, I spend an enormous amount of time focusing on emerging technologies and discovering how they can benefit teaching in the Dental classroom but there are times when the best strategies for enhancing learning experiences may have nothing to do with technology. I recently attended a seminar: The Learning Brain: Implications for Teaching hosted by Edward C. Bowen and re-discovered ideas about enhancing long-term learning and the way our brains retain memory by linking Cognitive Science to education. The main take-away for me was the “interleaving” teaching strategy which uses tools of Cognitive Psychology to encourage students to think, remember and problem solve.

Med Ed Portal

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine strongly encourages faculty to publish their work and Med Ed Portal provides an avenue to do this. Faculty can also browse peer reviewed manuscripts to learn about the latest research in their field. Membership is free.
