Golden Crown Award

The Golden Crown Award broadens the scope of formal recognition so that significantly more of the School's staff can be appropriately recognized for superior achievements. It also focuses attention on the Dental School's CROWN as the principal guide for measuring personal and group achievement in all parts of the School.

Criteria for Selecting a Candidate

  • An individual is eligible provided he or she is a full time, non-exempt and non-supervisory staff member.
  • The employee must have been employed at TUSDM for one year prior to the submission deadline for nominations.
  • Each recipient of the Golden Crown Award must have consistently exhibited superior performance in their assigned responsibilities.
  • The individual nominated must demonstrate the six competencies as expressed by the points of the CROWN:
    • Expertise - Possesses the requisite skills for the position, shares expertise and supports others in learning, skill building, pride in work, and commitment to professional development
    • Interaction With Others - Demonstrates communication skills, openness to different viewpoints, shows respect to others, collaborates on joint projects and decisions, provides candid and helpful feedback
    • Continuous Improvement - Provides measurable improvement made in systems or processes, system efficiency, innovation and creativity, and a commitment to generating new solutions and new ideas
    • Resourcefulness and Results - Works effectively in a variety of situations; demonstrates good work habits, flexibility, and initiative, uses multiple resources to achieve desired results; seeks input and assesses risks when making decisions; takes action; and shows commitment to getting things done
    • Leadership - Models desired behaviors, serves as a catalyst for change through positive energy, possesses the ability to articulate goals and their value, appropriates delegation or responsibility and authority, and accepts accountability for others.
    • Customer Focus - Shows attention and focus on customer satisfaction, effective and appropriate relationships with our customers, the patient
