RecycleMania
Tufts University is participating in RecycleMania, a ten-week, nationwide collegiate recycling competition. Now in its eighth year, RecycleMania has over 500 colleges participating. Last year Tufts final standing was 21st place. Not bad considering the competition, but we can certainly do better.
The competition is broken down into several categories:
- The campus with the least waste
- The campus with the most recycling per capita
- The campus with the highest recycling rate
Results
Week 1: Tufts University ranked 40th with a cumulative recycling rate of 36.11%
Tufts University ranked 16th in the Per Capita Classic Competition Division with 4.03lbs cumulative recyclables/person.
(In this competition schools are competing to see which can collect the largest amount of acceptable recyclables per person).

Question of the week We will be posting a question of the week on our website and scoreboards throughout campus for the duration of the competition. Correct answers will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win one of ten prizes. http://tuftsrecycles.org/questionoftheweek.html
Tufts Recycles! Interns will be organizing various tabling and outreach events throughout the competition.
Outreaching to the Media The competition's press release will be going out to our local and on campus news outlets. http://recyclemaniacs.org/doc/promoting/RecycleMania2009KickoffRelease.pdf
