Building Updates
What to Expect: Spring 2009

Through careful planning, we have tried to anticipate any inconveniences caused by the expansion process.
- Elevators: Elevators were switched over on Monday, March 23rd. Please note that temporary walls will be constructed in front of the "old" elevators on Monday the 23rd starting with the 7th and 8th floors and moving down through the building. Please remember that no furniture or objects can be placed in front of any elevator entrances at any time. To minimize elevator waits during busiest times, we ask that students, staff, and faculty use the stairs whenever possible.
- Restrooms on all floors are completed. No bathroom upgrades are planned for the future.
- Front offices and waiting rooms:The front offices and waiting areas are almost entirely ready for turn-over. The occupants will be notified by our office when they will be able to move back in.
- Front stairwell: To date, all of the entrances for the front stairwell (Stair 5) have been switched over. Please be prepared for additional noise, traffic, and occasionally the smell of welding as the former entrances are converted.
- First floor lobby: Starting this Friday, May 15th, the front entrance will be closed off and all patients, faculty, staff, and guests will need to enter through a temporary entrance erected at the elevator lobby. Additionally signage will be added to assist with locating this new entrance. As there will be no active card swipe for this entrance, entering the building after hours will have to be done through the hospital. This entrance will be used throughout the summer.
- The 11th floor will be left free to accommodate future growth and provide a buffer for the floors below during construction.
