Division Head and Program Director, Graduate and Postgraduate Prosthodontics
Director, Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry

Samer Kastali, DDS, MS
Assistant Professor and Co-Director, Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry

The 15-month Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry (AEED) Certificate Program aims to provide students with a broad academic background and clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of patients’ esthetics and functional needs.

Students learn to implement treatment methods and to utilize technology that is appropriate to each patient's individual esthetics and occlusion. The program exposes students to all the specialty phases of dentistry and medicine as they apply to esthetics.

Students also learn treatment planning and record-keeping techniques that they apply to each patient. They are required to present such information in weekly roundtable discussions with faculty. The process enables students to develop effective management and administrative skills.

The program, which is part of the Division of Postgraduate Prosthodontics, begins in July and concludes the following September.

Program Duration

The AEED Certificate Program is 15 months in length. The program commences on July 1, and ends on September 30 of the following year. It leads toward a Certificate of Achievement in Advanced Education in Esthetic Dentistry. The Master of Science Degree may be combined with a clinical specialty upon approval by the program director and the Graduate Studies Committee. Successful completion of a combined Advanced Education-Master of Science Program is expected to require a minimum of two years and six months (specific conditions apply).
