The seventh annual Clinical Advancement/White Coat Ceremony for the Class of D2011 was held on March 21,2009 at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel in Boston. Approximately 880 family members, faculty and staff attended to celebrate the 154 students in the class as they moved to the patient-care phase of their dental education. Tufts Executive Vice President Patricia Campbell spoke to the gathering.
The annual ceremony formalizes and symbolizes the transition of pre-doctoral students from basic science, biomedical science and pre-clinical education to the responsibilities of delivering patient care in the school's clinics. Various members of the Tufts faculty participated in reading the student names while faculty, alumni and family members helped the students don the traditional white lab coat as part of the ceremony. This year we were pleased to have 12 family members who are alums of the school participate in the white-coat ceremony to coat their child or sibling. The ceremony concluded with a luncheon at the hotel and tours of the Dental School.
What is the Clinical Advancement Ceremony?
