Clinical Advancement/White Coat Ceremony D2010

The Sixth Annual Clinical Advancement/White Coat Ceremony for the Class of D2010 was held on March 15, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boston. The ceremony formalizes and symbolizes the transition of the pre-doctoral students from basic science, biomedical science and pre-clinical education to the responsibilities of delivering patient care in the school's clinics. Approximately 600 family members as well as Tufts faculty and staff attended to celebrate the 159 students in the Class of 2010 as they moved to the patient-care phase of their dental education. Tufts Vice Provost Peggy Newell provided greetings and an introductory address.

The tradition of allowing Tufts faculty and alumni to assist family members in the class to don the white coat as part of the ceremony continued and there were 18 family members who were able to enjoy this personal moment, extending the family tradition of becoming clinically educated Tufts graduates.

Following the event all students and guests enjoyed a buffet lunch and had the option to take a guided tour of the Dental School.
