Academy of LDS Dentists
Mission Statement
Our purpose is to enhance student development through continuing education programs and conferences, including participation in the Academy of LDS Dentists conference held annually in August; to actively participate in dental service; to develop friendships and professional contacts through the Academy; to provide leadership opportunities and mentoring for students; to foster character and spiritual development; and to promote the standards of excellence and ethics in dentistry.
The Academy of LDS Dentists is an organization that was founded in 1978 by Gordon Christensen who is one of the biggest names in dentistry. The academy is an international organization comprised of practicing dentists and dental students.
As a dental student, become part of the Academy's network of opportunities:
- As a student Academy member, the opportunity to apply for scholarships that the Academy awards each year
- A network to find associateships and practice opportunities after graduation. Your availability could also be posted
- Access to the Academy website to find meaningful service opportunities and tips on how to do dental service throughout the world
- Newsletters and communication from the Academy
- Access to many educational tools from the CRA library
- Opportunity to team up with fellow Academy members who could mentor you in establishing your new career, answer many questions, and address many of your concerns
- Greatly reduced annual conference fees to receive 12 hours of continuing education credit from presentations by dental professionals in many aspects of dental practice; at the BYU Conference Center
Membership in the academy is complimentary during your 4 years of dental school and for your first 2 years of practice. The Tufts student chapter is active in providing dental related service as well as activities that bring students and faculty together. This chapter is a great chance to get involved in your school and community, network among students and professionals, and be around others with the same values.
