Smile, Share, & Care
Like reading to kids?
Want to share some of your time teaching them about oral health?
Smile, Share & Care is a unique volunteer opportunity that combines oral health awareness with literacy promotion.
Every week, students go to the YMCA across the street from the dental school and read books related to dentistry to the children at the YMCA day care center. Some of the books, we have read this year are: Open Wide: Tooth School Inside, Franklin and the Tooth Fairy, and What to Expect When You Go to the Dentist.
Other activities include taking a plaque free score on the kids, showing them how to brush their teeth, field trips to the Tufts Pediatric Dentistry clinic, and parent information sessions.
