American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD)
We are a group who seeks to reach out to women in the community by providing oral cancer screenings at battered women’s shelters and donating clothes to homeless women. This year we will be getting involved with the Girl Scouts to talk to them about the field of dentistry and encourage those that may be interested to assist us in the clinic while we serve as their mentors.
Every year we participate in "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk along the Charles River. We also host a Wine & Cheese party in honor of Saint Apollonia, the Patron Saint of Dentistry.
Some of our fundraising activities include bake sales, soap sales (we make them ourselves in the form of a tooth!), and Boards survival kits.
And lastly, we also get together for social events and plan to start clinic help sessions for those entering the clinic this year to ease the transition.
