Overview of Services

To meet the wide variety of patients’ needs, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine has general and specialty clinics, Tufts Dental Associates (a full-service Faculty Practice), and Tufts Craniofacial Pain Center.

Tufts Dental Clinics offer a full range of high quality general, specialty, and emergency dental care at lower fees than private practices.  At the Clinics, dental care is especially affordable because faculty-supervised pre-doctoral dental students or post-doctoral dental residents provide treatment.  Tufts has the following types of dental clinics:

At the  Faculty Practice, called Tufts Dental Associates, general and specialty dental care is provided by the School of Dental Medicine’s faculty--many of whom are internationally recognized in their area of expertise.  Tufts Dental Associates is a multi-specialty private group practice, uses no student dentists, and has rates comparable to other private dental practices in the Greater Boston Area.

Tufts Craniofacial Pain Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJD) and chronic head, neck, and facial pain.  One of the largest and most successful centers of its kind in the United States, Tufts Craniofacial Pain Center incorporates a truly multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of complex pain problems, including craniofacial disorders, dental sleep disorders (including Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) syndrome), and headaches.
