Dental Research Administration ContactGerard Kugel, DMD, MS, PhD As Associate Dean for Dental Research and Professor of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, Dr. Kugel has been conducting research at the Dental School for 25 years which has lead to an expertise in Clinical Research and Esthetic Dentistry. He is a reviewer and on the board for many dental journals. He is a Fellow in the American and International Colleges of Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Dental Materials. Dr. Kugel has published over 120 articles and over 200 abstracts in the field of restorative materials and techniques. He was given over 300 lectures both nationally and internationally. Jennifer Towers As the Director for Dental Research, Jen is responsible for overseeing financial and regulatory compliance and all research operations at TUSDM and acts as the main research liaison to federal, corporate and foundation funding agencies and Tufts offices. The Director is charged with providing education, training and support for departmental research coordinators and staff throughout the Dental School; managing the TUSDM Shared Labs; and shaping the evolving research program and community at TUSDM Pamela Corrado Pam manages the daily clinical, scientific, regulatory compliance and training activities of DRA in concert with the Director. She is responsible for review and approval of research protocols, grant applications and contract budgets including school-funded research, assuring federal and regulatory research compliance of investigators, students and staff. Pam is also responsible for managing the finances and daily operations for research conducted in the Oral Medicine Department. Susan MacDonald Susan is responsible for the pre-award submission process and post award financial management of numerous federal basic science grants, as well as for overseeing the regulatory compliance of several laboratories on the Boston campus. Susan also manages clinical trials from the pre-award stage to post-award. Quigley Raleigh Quigley is responsible for the pre-award submission process and post award financial management of numerous federal basic science grants, as well as for overseeing the regulatory compliance and daily business operations of several laboratories on the Boston campus and in Medford. Katie Dunn Katie coordinates the administrative processes for the Department of DRA. She aids student-based research organization, acts as liaison to other School and University offices, assists with research budget management/planning, and submitting grant applications. Katie also coordinates employee and student travel, organizes events, company meetings, assists with Bates-Andrews Research Day preparation, and coordinates events and travel at the AADR/IADR annual meeting. Jacob Silberstein Jacob is responsible for assisting dentists and researchers in general conduct of clinical trials and bench studies as well as overseeing the schedule and usage of Clinical Research Facilities. He supports research throughout the dental school by monitoring regulatory compliance and assisting in the planning of implementation of research for post-doctoral programs. Britta Magnuson, DMD Dr. Magnuson screens, examines, and evaluates dental patients for clinical studies. She also researches and edits reports and journal articles, and assists in the development of protocols for clinical research studies. Starting this fall she will be working with the post-graduate departments to guide postgraduate students through the IRB process for their research studies. Eileen Doherty Prof. Doherty runs the Student Summer Research Fellowship Program, the Dean's Research Honors Scholarship, and coordinates Bates-Andrews Student Research Day. She is also the Chair-person of the TUSDM Research Committee. Eileen is available for assistance with proposal writing, and can assist with material and testing set-up. Brittany Ellis Brittany provides support to DRA and manages Jennifer Towers and Dr. Kugel's calendars. Lauren provides training and education to faculty and postgraduate students for proposal development, drafting informed consent documents and navigating the IRB submission process. Kalen assists and educates postgraduate students and researchers of the Dental School in conducting clinical trials by handling overall micro- and macro-coordination of research trials as needed. |
