At Tufts Dental, we already have great students and great faculty-now they will have a great building in which to learn and work. -Dean Lonnie H. Norris
With the start of April 2008, we are beginning our vertical expansion project that will add five floors and 95,000 square feet to our building. We expect the construction will take place over the next eighteen months. The new space will expand our patient clinics, classrooms, and offices, as well as Continuing Education and research facilities. Using state-of-the-art green building standards, the new floors will include many windows and make the most of natural light.
Our increased physical space will allow us to build upon our long-held tradition of offering dental care for the city of Boston and the greater New England community. In turn, students will benefit from additional space for clinical practice, a hallmark of the Tufts dental education. At the School of Dental Medicine, we provide care to more than 20,000 patients each year, totalling more than 95,000 visits annually. The building addition will better position us to deliver on our mission of service and will help increase access to high-quality and affordable dental care.
In the upcoming months, you'll be hearing more about what to expect during the course of construction. Some points of key information are outlined here; for updates during the project, please visit our building updates web page. I thank you in advance for your patience throughout this project and for your continuing dedication to Tufts Dental.
