HPSP collected items (such as books, food, DVDs etc.) for the troops in Afghanistan & Iraq this November, and played a flag football game at the Boston Common. The ArmyAir Force team faced off against the Navy team, who seemed to get the upper hand, but the ArmyAF team was dragged down by Dr. Rankin.

HPSP 1st Annual Softball Game

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine's HPSP Student Organization held their first annual softball game at Fletcher field on the Tufts' main campus in Medford. The U.S. Army had overwhelming support with nine Army HPSP students reporting to play. They included John Brady D10, Spenser Wilson D10, Alexis Apatoff D10, Dustin Dodds D10, Emily Dodds D10, James Koehler D13 and Rachel Misuraca D13. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy had to combine their forces to meet the challenge of the Army. The combined USAF/Navy team included Chrissie Pflipsen D10 USAF, Mathew Roberts D10, USN, Michael Lee D11, USN, Dr. Rankin D79, USAF and a draftee - Scott, Peggy McInerney's husband. In the stands, cheering the teams on, was Peggy, Jamie Rhew and Spenser's three daughters

The game started off with the Army taking the field and the AF/Navy team coming to bat. The AF/Navy team may have intimidated the Army team a bit by immediately circling the bases to the "Rocky" theme. Even though Koehler hit three home runs into Professor's row beyond the right field fence (without breaking a window), the AF/Navy team humiliated the Army team by winning the pitcher's duel 37-20.

It was wonderful day weather-wise, and the comraderie and fun shared by both teams added to a most memorable event.
